Overview: The Drexel BIOMED Summer Academy will introduce students to laboratory and core research skills through interactive, hands-on learning activities and will also provide them with the opportunity to explore the biomedical engineering industry through site visits, seminars, and presentations from industry experts. It is available to rising high school juniors and seniors in the Philadelphia area and beyond. Admission to the program is competitive. Students must have taken one year of biology and have some interest in math, engineering, or health and life sciences. The program runs for one-week with four sessions in July to choose from.

Overview: The Girls One Diaspora Club is an after-school internship program for teen girls in Philadelphia and attending high school in Philadelphia who are from Africa or the African Diaspora, were born outside of the U.S. or are first-generation Americans, and have an interest in healthcare or STEM careers. The club is a forum for academic and personal support to assist these young women with issues related to schooling, ancestry, ethnicity, and the challenges of adjusting to a new culture.
